Metcalfe Architecture & Design
The Cornwall Library will display Metcalfe Architecture & Design’s recent work featuring “Spaces Between Buildings" -- the outdoor spaces buildings create -- from July 3rd to 31st. Opening reception will be July 3, 5:00 to 7:00 PM. The show will include Betty Spence’s new house on Lake Road in West Cornwall, CT.
We have always been interested in the ways that buildings can shape the emotions of the people who occupy them. Successful buildings create sequences of walls and roofs which work in concert with outdoor spaces to frame views of nature, create entries and manipulate natural light. Use of these timeless architectural gestures in buildings taps into our most basic instincts to elicit feelings of contentment and anticipation in their occupants.
