Family Movie Night - Double Feature
Friday, June 21 at 6:30 pm
On Friday, June 21, the Library will sponsor a double-feature family movie night. Enjoy a good laugh with the short, animated Wallace and Gromit comedy in The Wrong Trousers starting at 6:30 pm.
The classic movie The Black Stallion follows at 7:15 pm. The story is set in 1946, shortly after the end of World War II, and involves 10-year-old Alec Ramsey who is traveling with his father on a ship off the north coast of Africa. While on deck, he sees a handsome black Arabian stallion being pushed into its quarters. Later he visits it and offers it sugar cubes. That night, in a violent storm, the ship is struck by lightning and catches fire. Alec manages to set the horse free but is thrown overboard; the ship goes down with everyone on board, leaving only Alec and the horse as survivors. Marooned on a remote island and then rescued, eventually they return to the U.S. where Alec meets a horse trainer named Henry Dailey (Mickey Rooney) who teaches him how to ride. Together the three challenge two of the country's fastest racehorses.
Both films are rated G. There is no charge, but donations are welcome.
