I am extremely fortunate at this time in my life to have the opportunity to explore Painting. There has always been an artist inside of me, free as a child, self-conscious as a young adult, neglected and sublimated for decades.

 

Life is simple now. I explore the cycle of creativity, inspiration-lack of inspiration, success- failure- and note that I make progress.  I am learning to embrace my struggle for facility without formulas.                          

 

Landscape offers a time-honored vehicle to explore what is personal.  There is so much to record that some level of abstraction is inevitable.  The demands of form, light, and color compete for supremacy and I find myself the passenger on a journey with its own destination in mind.  I find it very intriguing and am thrilled when someone else finds something that reaches out to them in my paintings.
