The library is featuring a show of paintings by Phyllis Nauts entitled “Portraits et al”.
Artist’s statement:
I have been painting for over a decade, after working for 25 years as a psychotherapist in New York, San Francisco and Cornwall. I find it an intense, difficult and exhilarating process. My early works were primarily attempts to learn something about form and color. I am currently immersed in a series of portraits, which I do from photographs, some of friends, some of strangers, and more abstract pictures. I work in oil, charcoal, and acrylic.
I have shown in two-person and group shows at the New Arts Gallery, the Morgan Lehman Gallery, Artwell, the Insider/Outsider Gallery, the Washington Art Association and the Cornwall Collection in Northwest Connecticut, and at Studio 22 in Amenia, New York, and have studios in Cornwall and in Provence
